Laurent Miquel's Viognier has become a standard for how delicious viognier can be without paying Condrieu prices, and doubtless played a large role in bringing the price of Condrieu down to less extortionate levels.

But in the same way that some producers' "Organic" labelled version is actually a down-market supermarket version of their better plain label wine - which was probably organic without saying so - I wonder if the same has happened with this Vendange Nocturne label. (I remember I used to get a Vendange Nocturne roussanne that was seriously good value, but haven't seen that for a while.) For this is not the quality I remember of Miquel Viognier. And I can't think the issue is the vintage, warm as it was, for we have plenty of acidity.

The nose is not as lifted and apricotty as I would recall. And the palate is undistinguished with a distinct ugh on the palate.

Wines by glass at Advivum Prague (Prague, Czech Republic): By glass at the musical Advivum Prague.

People who know their ancestry know themselves. This seems like a wine that does not know its climate, its grape or its soil. It could be any other well made generic white in the world and I wouldn’t know the difference. It’s not much more than a product of production. 88 points

15% alc. (55% lagering in nieuwe eik gedurende 14 m, rest in 1 jaar oude fûts)
👀: Helder, intens, kersenrood, kleine doorzichtigheid, gevulde meniscus met grote viscositeit en veel gekleurde tranen.
👃: zuiver en intens, veel zwart fruit (braambes, zwarte bes, vlier-en bosbes, kers) gedroogde vijg, dode bladeren, tabak, eik, rokerig, peper, nootmuskaat, kruidnagel, vanille en munt.
👅: Mooie balans (+1) en fantastische afdronk van 5-6 sec. Prijs kwaliteit top.

I must start off by saying Viognier is not my favourite but nice to have available.
Nose of oak at first upon opening not unpleasent or to powerful. In the mouth you don’t get the oak but the smooth, round, full, rich fruit & dry but no noticeable acid.
Good length and will certainly last a year or 2 yet. Great QPR, then again not the first vintage I have purchased of this but maybe the best so far

Lots to appreciate similar in style to a good Chateauneuf du Pape not surprisingly as it from Grenache & Syrah. A Bit too powerful for my personal liking but no denying the quality. Obvious dark fruit on the nose, very full in the mouth so smooth with just a touch of tar & tannin on the finish.
Very impressive & pleasing if it’s your particular style for enjoyment. In no way am I disappointed to have purchased 6 bottles. Just need to ensure I always share it with company so I enjoy a glass and not get tied from the 2nd.

Such a nice experience. Sweet apple on the tongue for sure. Well balanced. Nose is somewhat flat. Excellent mouthfeel. I bought this on auction for dirt cheap. Shipped cost is $10.21. I got 3 bottles and wish I had a case.

Bu au restaurant sur tagliata de boeuf.Robe grenat intense (80% syrah 20% grenache).Arômes de cerise et groseille noire,senteurs intense de garrigue,d'épices douces (thym,laurier).C'est assez envoûtant et réjouit les narines.En bouche,ce vin offre un soyeux remarquable avec des tanins fondus complètement.Il est vraiment bien sur son plateau de maturité et offre beaucoup de plaisir.Un superbe échantillon de Saint Chinian.

Nez incroyablement alléchant. Fruité : confiture framboise et fraise.
Bouche quasi trop fruitée. Très Pinot Noir…. Même s’il est un peu court….

Pale straw, shy nose, palate is very fruity with peach and grapefruit flavours, full acidity, somewhat dry, earthy finish. Needs time to get a better balance - classy wine.

Simple, but effective i.e. unlike 99% of my notes
A little more blackberry than strawberry, and The Flower This Time would be dame's rocket after dark
Light to medium bodied, the 25% Grenache neutering any of that butch Northern stuff, immediately enjoyable almost to the point of fun, with only marginal acidic improvement over 4 days. Going to an auction tasting later today, and while I'm sure everything will be more interesting and intense, it wouldn't surprise me if this bested half the wines tasted for pleasure
